My stomach has decided it can handle a little bit more, so I've incorporated a snack between breakfast and lunch. Before starting The Thor Challenge, I ate one meal a day. Now I'm doing breakfast, brunch, lunch, a midday snack, and dinner on a regular basis.
Speaking of poundage, a friend who has been reading my blog came up to me a few days ago and lamented his weight, saying there was nothing he could do about it.
I pulled out my phone and showed him 185 lbs. on two different people.

I explained to him that all the guy in the second pic has to do in order to look like the gentleman in the first one is literally nothing. The cat on the right doesn't get up each morning looking like he does. He works at it.
This isn't to imply that everyone needs to be buff. It does mean that surrendering to desperation is a downward, self-defeating spiral.
I could tell he was still leery. I cocked a knowing eyebrow at him and said, "Self-pity doesn't burn calories."

I reminded my friend where I started: I could only do a handful of sit-ups, a few push-ups, and barely got myself over the chin-up bar.
He smiled, a glimmer of hope having suddenly appeared in the corner of his eye.
I stated that the key is perseverance and doing just a little more each day. I told him, before he knew it, he'd be cranking out 50 push-ups without batting an eye.
He texted me today complaining that his arms felt like spaghetti. He'd gone to the gym the day before. I congratulated him and sent him the following.
