12 Days Remaining: I'm at 185 pounds! However, I still need a couple of extra pounds of wiggle room before I start cutting next week. Fortunately, I'm still holding steady at 11 percent body fat.
Also, this just in from the gym—For lightweight guys, push-ups and pull-ups aren't a big thing, so back in March when I reported that I had slowly built up to being able to do the max (not minimum) number of pull-ups the Marines require of their recruits, I didn't think much about it. As far as physical achievement is concerned, you'll instead find ectomorphs gazing up at the mountain peak that is the bench press.
Readers, friends, fans, you might wanna sit down for what I'm about to report.
As promised last April, I can now bench 225 lbs. (122 percent of my body weight).
Why is 225 a big deal? Several reasons.
The largest Olympic weight plate weighs 45 pounds (and the barbell another 45). One plate to each side equals a measly 135. Things start getting serious immediately after that because less than 12 percent of people who weight train can bench two plates to a side, 225 pounds, which is why two-and-a-quarter is the unspoken standard for respect in the bodybuilding community. 225 also happens to be the minimum bench requirement for all NFL players.

Yes, you read that right. My once wire-thin hiney is now able to press what every professional football player has to bench in order to make it onto the field.
What's more is that I've successfully doubled my bench press in less than a year. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
