Three months ago, The Thor Challenge premiered on Instagram and last Thursday it nabbed its 500th follower! During that time, more than a few fans have asked about the particulars of my workout routine. Since everyone focuses on chest, back, arms, shoulders, and legs, I've decided to go with the underdog of weight training: Core. I do 50 reps of the following exercises—which hit upper, side, and lower abs—in that order: |
= 500 sit-up variations in a +/- 45-minute window
Why such a short time frame? Time under tension. If muscles are allowed to recover, which they begin to do very rapidly, they won't develop as quickly.
In respect to progress, by staying focused and maintaining my workout schedule, I've been able to go from 30 sit-ups, then 200, to 500 in half a year's time.

My friend is an inspiration in that, even though he's in shape, he doesn't work core on a regular basis. He nonetheless grunted his way through the workout and refused to stop until we were done, which goes to show that success in the gym is equal parts ability and determination.
